Man arrested for murdering woman 10 year ago. Mother's ex-partner held in homicide of Sicily woman in 2012

A 60-year-old Italian man was arrested Monday on suspicion of murdering a 22-year-old woman who went missing in Sicily on June 4, 2012.

The man, Rosario Palermo, is the former live-in partner of the mother of the woman, Agata Scuto, who went missing from a town near Catania.

He was caught on a phone tap voicing fear that Scuto's body might be found, police said.

The man allegedly strangled his victim and burned her body, police said on the basis of other remarks he made to himself.
Scuto's body has never been found.
