"I am well and will soon return to Favignana." This message was posted by Salvatore Sinagra, the 30-year-old victim of a violent assault at a bar in Lanzarote, Canary Islands, in response to some friends in a group dedicated to him. The young man is now well, has awakened from the coma, and after several weeks of recovery, he seems to have also left the Hospital of Las Palmas, Spain, where he was hospitalized following the severe cranial trauma he suffered.
It appears that the assault on Sinagra occurred outside following a trivial argument while he was with some friends. An external camera recorded the incident. The assailant, a 25-year-old, was arrested by the Civil Guard. He reportedly confessed to hitting the young man from Favignana with a punch, without the use of any other objects.
The incident has caused a great stir. There have been countless shows of solidarity. From the creation of a social group with friends and acquaintances, where thoughts, photos, and phrases dedicated to the young man are shared daily, as well as updates on his health, to prayer groups, to torchlight processions that have crossed the center of Favignana. A community that has shown itself to be united and solid, and that eagerly awaits his return home.

"Estoy bien y pronto regresaré a Favignana". Así escribe Salvatore Sinagra, el joven de 30 años víctima de una violenta agresión en un bar de Lanzarote, Islas Canarias, en respuesta a algunos amigos en un grupo dedicado a él. El joven ahora está bien, ha despertado del coma y después de varias semanas de recuperación, parece haber dejado también el Hospital de Las Palmas, en España, donde estaba hospitalizado tras el grave trauma craneal que sufrió.
Parece que la agresión a Sinagra ocurrió afuera tras una discusión trivial mientras estaba con algunos amigos. Una cámara externa grabó el incidente. El agresor, un joven de 25 años, fue arrestado por la Guardia Civil. Supuestamente confesó haber golpeado al joven favignanense con un puñetazo, sin usar otros objetos.
El episodio ha causado mucho revuelo. Han sido innumerables las manifestaciones de solidaridad. Desde la creación de un grupo social con amigos y conocidos, donde se comparten diariamente pensamientos, fotos y frases dedicadas al joven, así como actualizaciones sobre su estado de salud, hasta los grupos de oración, y las marchas con antorchas que han recorrido el centro de Favignana. Una comunidad que se ha mostrado unida y compacta y que lo espera pronto en casa.
