Comunicato Stampa: Appello all'Europa

The refugees presently stranded in Libya, among them 8.000 persons already recognized by UNHCR, are without any effective protection and exposed to various forms of violence and persecution for reasons of race and nationality, originating from both, militias linked to Gheddafi, as well as from part of the insurgents.
The European Union cannot remain silent vis-à-vis this serious and widespread Human Rights violations. Therefore the undersigned organizations, members of the Tavolo Asilo, appeal to the EU Council, the Commission and the single Governments, asking to undertake the commitment to provide assistance to these stranded refugees, in particular through immediate humanitarian evacuations and transfer the Member States.
