The evocative photographic exhibition "GIOVEDÌ SANTO A MARSALA" will kick off Easter celebrations in the city on Monday, March 25th, culminating in the processions of Holy Week. The exhibition, hosted at Palazzo VII Aprile, showcases a series of captivating shots that capture the essence of this unique tradition. Visitors can admire the photographs until March 30th (except for Thursday 28th and Friday 29th) with continuous opening hours from 9 am to 8 pm.
The heart of Marsala's Easter celebrations comes alive with the SACRA RAPPRESENTAZIONE DEL GIOVEDÌ SANTO (Holy Thursday Living Tableau). The procession, featuring life-sized characters, winds its way through the city streets, departing from the Church of Sant'Anna at 1 pm and returning to the church on Via XIX Luglio at around 7 pm.
On the same evening, at the Teatro Impero (9:30 pm), the play "YESHUA" takes to the stage, retracing the final days of Jesus' life, from his miracles to his crucifixion, in an crescendo of emotions.
On March 29th, the PROCESSIONE DEL VENERDÌ SANTO (Good Friday Procession) will be preceded by the procession of the statue of the Madonna from the Sanctuary dell'Addolorata at 2:30 pm. This will be followed by the celebration of Holy Mass in the Chiesa Madre, and at around 5 pm, the procession of the Dead Christ and Our Lady of Sorrows will begin. The procession will conclude with a brief prayer stop in Piazza Mameli before returning to the Sanctuary, which will remain open until midnight.
